Played a battle of British Infantry versus Marathra Elephants. It's very funny to see infantry being thrown around with rag doll physics. If only cavalry charges could do some of this stuff instead of making units slide backwards!

Does a surgical strike into a large empire that temporarily takes the capitol ussually kill the empire?

Here is the scenario:

Playing Great Britain and at War with France and Spain. Both France and Spain have massive empires. France controls Canada, and about 2/3rds of North America. Spain has a massive South American/Carribean/African empire. This is good, it actually is a bit of a challenge. I actually lost a war for the first time, because I temporarily lost the navy arms race and had to actually give up a region to buy peace.

Why am I getting random blurry soldiers after 1.4/1.5?

For some strange reason since Steam autoupdated 1.4 and 1.5 from a distance random soldiers turn into a blur. If I zoom in close enough the blur disappears with one important exception. If I push the "insert" button to see things from the vantage point of soldiers in a particular unit, random soldiers sometimes also become a blur which is extremely annoying as when they are that size it makes them look like ghosts.

Does killing a units officer reduce the units morale?

When a units officer gets killed does that actually reduce the units morale at all or is it pretty much just another unit loss? In reality it would have reduced the morale of the regiment as their leadership was lost.

I ordered Empire total war yesterday, so i haven't played it yet, but i have done some reading about it. One of the things i have read is that there is a lot fewer cities compared to the other games. I have also read that there is a lot villages and importen buildings in the map, but to get control over a region you got to capture the region capital. My question is;

Do factions get destroyed fast when there is so few cities?

Otherwise the factions will expand their...

Gameplay making my laptop go into standby

Ok, I have not played this game in a long time and decided to play again this past week. I had started up steam and it did a long update. Now when I play it keeps makeing my computer go into standby, this is the only application that does this and it never did itbefore, but it is doing it now. Does anyone have any ideas why this may be happening?

I checked my power management and it has nothing that has changed, so I am confused.

Has anything really changed? The AI seems just as likely to stab you in the back. As Prussia I conquered Hannover. Netherlands declared on me and I destroyd them. I traded Flanders to France for an alliance and the very next turn they declared. What's the point of diplomacy if your allies are going to just murder you any time its convenient? Why even bother allowing alliances? Why not just start everyone at war with everyone else.

My First Revolution

Ive had this game since the day it came out and never had a revolution, probably cause i'm such a good leader.

Merging regiments

I know this is only a small thing - but sometimes it's the small things which drive you mad. I've read that when you have depleted regiments you can merge two different regiments of the same unit type by dragging one of their unit cards on top of the other. Ya so i have E:TW(special edition) i have every DLC so far thats about 15 bucks or so?

Ok that being said i tried playing ETW today and look what happens! Apparently my account has been disabled... this means i can't play ETW, DOW2, Fallout 3.... Basically they took my money swallowed it and kicked me out saying "whelp looks like we don't need you anymore...

This is dumb as all hell... Why does ETW run through steam? because now i have to options... i can...

CA's suggestion after 48 hours steam issue?

I may be living in a dream world somewhere, and I just imagined this...
If I recall, initially a few weeks before ETW became available for download from Steam, they were stating a 48 hours pre download, and then activation on the 3rd of March. This changed to no pre download, and a lot of Steam users who had ONLY bought the game off Steam due to that, were left rather unhappy. In the midst of this, I am sure I recall someone from CA appoligising for the mess and misunderstanding, and...

Overextended Again

Hey eveybody As with all Total War games, I reached a point in the game where all my income is going to the upkeep of my army. I try to disband some armies but it just doesn't seem to work well. My 2 questions are 1. What should I do when I reach a point when my income is going towards my army and 2. What units offer an extra bonus when it comes to garrisoning them in the city (as for the Ottoman Empire)? Thanks

I've been hesitant to play 1.5 seriously because I am still hearing bad things about the BAI, and graphical glitches. Is 1.5 in everyone's honest opinion worth playing now, or should I wait to play it seriously later, in the hopes one day CA will respond to any future updates?

I'm playing my Russian campaign, and I'm at year 1730. Out of nowhere all of my lower class in Russia start to get angry and revolt everywhere. Is there a reason for this, when a see the tab where it shows their mood it mostly says "clamour for reform" can somebody explain to me what exactly that means?

City walls

Does anyone else think it's pointless to upgrade to the second level of city walls? It just makes the walls bigger and tires out my units running to the place where the enemy is scaling them. The extra popguns aren't worth the 8k investment imo. Going for a prestige victory is the only reason I'd ever build them personally.

Yes they do, or at least one is still on map in Palestine. As of yet I have found no others.
