Un-named DLC units Solution - uninstall Mods

I downloaded Elite units of America and have noticed that the new units lack certain details; for example when you look at any of the other units in-game they appear as "Unite name" then "(Unit Type)" for example "Hussars (Light Cavalry)". Whereas all the new units just appear with unit type only so the unit is called (dragoons) or (skirmishers) which is a little off-putting and when i right click on the unit card the panel that comes up, which normally...

Crashing since Dec 07 patch

Since the patch the game crashes to desktop a few seconds into the intro screen. I have already done the memory workaround referred to on TWcenter months ago. I am using Windows Vista Home Premium. I have no mods installed. Here is my dxdiag:

I lost sound to ETW a couple of months ago but I gave the game a break, deciding to wait for the patch. In the meantime I've played various other games and none of them have had any sound issues. The patch is here and I still have ZERO sound in ETW. I can't enjoy the epic roar of musket fire or clash of sabers! Knowing that there is new music from the patch is killing me right now! Any ideas on how to get audio back? Now I lost said sound a couple of months ago playing some itunes...

Hey Guys, (edited title to make sense)

I took a look in the forum and I couldn't find anyone had posted about this so I think perhaps I am the only one? boy, hope not :P right so I reinstaled Empire total war totally from raw installation because I had this problem.. and it didn't fixit.

Problem: when I go to settings now after 1.4 patch, it won't change my settings, I mean I can CHANGE them but it doesn't "react" when I click on accept, I can...

Colour tint / Game will not run with Stereoscopic glasses [Game incompatible]

Well I installed it today and started it up. First thing I noticed, all the colors are yellow. Everything has a yellow tint to it. I started a battle and all the colors were extremely messed up and wrong.

With 1.3, I had a problem that was causing a CTD on the splash screen. I reinstalled it TWICE, and it worked the second time.

I exited the game, and now when I start the program, it crashes without even giving me the splash screen.

Any fixes that DON'T...

First I'd like to apologise if this sounds so much like other posts but i am now at my wits. finally succumbed to buying empire:tw and have taken the day off work to install. No probs with installation, no probs with setting up steam, steam verified game as ok. I then clicked on game in Steam menu and the first page comes up saying Empire Total War produced by blah blah and then just sits there with my mouse icon spinning round and round (running vista). Have trawled my way thro support...

Do I need to have my Special Forces units code for future installs?

Hi guys, I just realized that I misplaced my Special Forces edition unit code that came with my game. It came on a sheet of paper inside the box, and it must have fallen out somewhere because I can't find it anymore. I do still have the game's cd key, so I know I can get Steam to reinstall my game at any time. Since the Special Forces units are considered Downloadable Content, will Steam automatically activate the Special Forces units if I need to reinstall without any code? On...

Ok, realised many did not have the SF edition for some reasons...

But similar to those who bought the DLC units, my Special Forces units have also disappeared after the latest patch and Steam update. Anyone in the same boat?

What is going on here? Does Steam really make people "Steam"?

Nvidia 9400GT Black Screen

I just bought a new NVidia 9400 GT 1GB graphics card to enjoy the graphics of ETW more fully. I upgraded from an Nvidia GeForce 8400 GS (worked good, but has to use low settings).

However, now I can't boot ETW at all. The screen goes blank and that's it. I can hear the music, and the mouse makes the tick noise when it hovers over a button, but I can't see anything.

Does anyone get this in Empire ? Maybe you just get a freeze and a BSOD.
The internet is brimming with umpteen dubious and incomplete fixes for this problem.
This is what worked for me.

GFX - XFX ATI Radeon HD4870 @775/950
GPU under load tops 80C and it can get there very quickly.
Empire would often freezeup in battles and was guaranteed to freeze in a naval battles.
Furmark would freeze up...

Can't declare war without CTD!

Hey,

got a really nasty bug here, it appears that I can't declare war to any nation without getting a CTD. I'm currently playing as Great Britain. This bug happens when I go into the diplomatic relations tab, and tries to declare war, I press the "send msg" button, all freezes, and CTD. When I'm onto it, I can also mention another bug, where I can't interract with a general without getting CTD.

Any clues?

Can't defrag game files

I have asked steam, (5 days ago now), and sega, and no response as to why I get the message unable to defragment disk c. The report shows about 9 gb of steam
applications that dont allow complete defrag. I have defragged game cache at steam site, but unable to defrag my hard drive more than 15%. If anyone can help

I seem to have the crash video problem too. The weird thing is that the game only works for the first time after each restart and crashes while loading company logo in every subsequent attempt. I have to restart my PC if i want to play. I tried the method in the sticky post, but it's not working for me. I've updated the drivers as much as i can.

I encounter graphical problems like the water en game performance slowdown. The first 3 days i did not have graphical problems with the waterand game performance at all!
For some reason i had suddenly screwed inland water (Brandy wine for example).
When i used shaders 3.0 low the water was suddenly black. And with shaders 3.0 high i have normal water but, stange shifting riverbanks and strange shiny effects on the water

Saved Game Files - Folder Directory?

Hi, my game currently keeps crashing whenever I try and load one of my saved campaigns so what I'm doing is going to reinstall the game but I want to know where the directory is of the saved game files so that I can back them up to use them after I reinstall.
