I probably had a similar reaction as the historical Shogunate in 1274 when the Mongols made their first invasion. It was shock, followed by a desperate attempt to stem the asian onslaught. Ever since it began, I've been scrambling to try and contain their blitzkrieg but nothing seems to work.
On the battlefield, I've found my trusty samurai running like scared girls before these nomadic hordes. Tactics that proven themselves before, have failed when attempted against these implacable invaders. And none of my units seems cabable of holding its own against these guys.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
I have a suspicion that the samurai are of a lower quality in this version of the game, perhaps due to a lack of training or usage of their skills (as happened in the 18th and 19th centuries, when there were no wars to occupy the samurai class), however, I may be reading too much into it.
It seems like I need at least a 3 to 1 advantage over them in order to guarantee a win. Even when led by a high level leader (like the daimyo), my units fare little better. It's like attacking tanks with baseball bats.
I would appreciate any tactical and strategic suggestions from some of you veteran generals, before I lose control of sacred Nippon to these dishonorable garlic eaters.
