Several factors, I'll name a few.
1. "CNflation" the term given to the current gap in strength, a small country has an income of 500 a day, a big country has an income of 3.000.000 a day. it takes a small country about a 2 years to catch up to a big one unless they receive an continuous excessive amount of aid. 2. "NPO" the NPO is the New Pacific Order, only they are not pacifists. back in early 2007 they came from Nationstates and joined CN, so within the first week their numbers were already at 100 (due to the already existing userbase at their previous forums). Currently it is the biggest alliance in CN and they know it. Communist Russia style to all those who oppose them, and even those who ally them. 3. The admins. The admins are just ordinary players, so they are in alliances as well. Nuke a member of their alliance? banned. Winning a war? game rollback. 4. The developer. This guy knows jack about coding, he knows so little about it that he constantly asks for help from his admins, and he still can't fix even some of the simplest bugs. Almost every change he made to the game since 2007 has been a bad one, making the game even more unbalanced. I'm going away in a few minutes so I can't write more. If you wanna join anyway I suggest you join the Greenland Republic (GR). Those guys are awesome |

Some of those points da Meir made aren't true. The admin has a nation but it's just for testing, he's not in an alliance. I've played for over
2 years and no war has ever been 'rolled back'. Greenland Republic is currently being destroyed so that's not a good choice. Now the CN inflation
might be a point, but heck if somebodies been playing for 2 or 3 years, why shouldn't he get some size versus and total newbie? By the way there is another
CN game occasionally reset that is tournament style, so newbies and veterans start at zero together.
http://tournament.cybernations.net/ the tournament just started like a week ago if you want to start even.

actually I might try it, I've always wanted my own country, and I've always wanted to have my own country. It looks like its free, so if I don't
like it, or have problems I'll just quit *cough* total war multiplayer and support*cough*.

Some of those points da Meir made aren't true.
"The admin has a nation but it's just for testing, he's not in an alliance." Perhaps the term admin wasn't clear. I meant his team of moderators. "I've played for over 2 years and no war has ever been 'rolled back'. " Remember when Ivan Moldavi was nuked? they banned the guy who did it & restored Ivan's nation to its previous strength (actually quite a bit above his previous strength) "Greenland Republic is currently being destroyed so that's not a good choice. " Meh, we never planned on winning anyway. we knew from the start we were gonna get out butts kick, thats why we build up a huge money reserve to help us rebuild our nations. currently negotiating for peace. but what alliance do you suggest then? "Now the CN inflation might be a point, but heck if somebodies been playing for 2 or 3 years, why shouldn't he get some size versus and total newbie? " Not my point. the point is that if you become friends with a big nation you can grow 10x as fast as a regular nation. |

I'm giving it a try, although I'm keeping my head down at the minute and not joining a big alliance. I like just seeing where I can take my nation
without going to war. Trouble is, games like this in my experience tend to have big nations that stomp on new members as easy pickings.
I played something vaguely like this years ago and managed to get to rank 11 without declaring war on a major power. At that point the top 10, who it turned out knew each other, decided they weren't standing for this and jointly stomped me into the ground. So that put me off that game! XD |

I don't know exactly what da Meir's point is on banning, but the only people I've ever seen banned were from making Out of Character attacks
(chasing people outside of the game), putting vulgar things in the forum or in their bio and such things as that. I've never seen someone banned for
shooting a nuke. Darn, that's part of the game. I have seen players hounded after they shoot one by an opposing alliance, but never by admin. If what he
says is true on Ivan that's not the whole story and because of this inflation of nation sizes it would have been when people were like 7000 nation strength
and now the bigger guys are 75,000 and upward. Small potatoes. I really figured he was on the losing end of a war with the attitudes, but, whatever. I've
had alot of fun. I don't want to advocate any given alliance as I don't want to move my character in cybernations into this forum. If I told some
people my cybernations name it would be constant bickering and I don't want that.
Now back to the game itself, it's very slow moving, maybe 5 minutes a day to do your nation, but the main game is if you like to talk with people on irc, msn and forums. If you like to be active you'll enjoy it more. I used to be quite active, but I sit in the shadows now. I don't have the energy to run an alliance anymore. There's usually been only 2 big mega wars per year or so, but if you enjoy constant combat then try the tournament address I put up. My only suggestion to grow fast is to sell tech that is if you play regular cybernations. In tournament there might not be buyers because you are all small. You can buy it cheap and there's lots of big nations willing to pony up bucks for it. |

They don't usually tell people they banned someone. but I think there are some evidence screenshots still on the old NAAC forums, i'll check it out
tomorrow.
anyway, the new "Perma ZI" is IMO even worse than banning. |

OK for those of you that don't know, he's refering to some 'proof' fabricated by a losing alliance probably 2 years ago about an incident that
I think might have happened before even I was around. Don't bother to post any of your 'proofs'.
Come on man, some other people might enjoy playing a game and you are trying to rain on their parade. Let them try it for themselves and quit whinning about some petty grievance. In the case of Ivan's replacement, the current leader of his alliance gets nuked every other month and nobody gets banned. It is to be expected that some losers want to go out with a bang by nuking a leader of a big alliance. Be specific in your charges too. Whatever this perma zi thing is, it isn't done by admin. I say this because you are mixing actions of players and admin and moderators without any context. This will only confuse people. We already know you are not happy. Find another game if it makes you so unhappy. There are lots out there. |

lol I'm an NPO member on CN. My nation is called Gibraltar. If anyone else wants to join NPO I will vouch for you when you apply, and it'll be an
easier application process for you.

"he's refering to some 'proof' fabricated by a losing alliance probably 2 years ago about an incident that I think might have happened before

First off, the moderators them self admitted it. second, the guy was not in an alliance when he shot a nuke, he was a "nuclear rogue". but you're right about it happening 2 years ago. "Whatever this perma zi thing is," You don't know? fine, i'll indulge. Perma-ZI is where a nation is reduced to ZI (Zero-Infrastructure), and then not permitted to rebuild its infrastructure at any point again in the future. Supposedly, it is considered to be a death knell for a given nation. Nations sentenced to Perma-ZI are expected then to either leave Cyber Nations altogether or delete their nations and create new ones anonymously. However, as a nation is continually attacked it becomes smaller and smaller. Thus, those sent to declare new wars when the current ones expire tend to be weaker, less experienced and with less investment in whatever hatred is directed at the nation designated for Perma-ZI. But much of this depends upon whether the Perma-ZI actually did something wrong or merely offended a more powerful group. If it's the latter, in practical terms usually the designation only lasts for a matter of weeks or months at most. What can be problematic is that anyone who gives the designated nation traceable aid may also be subject to attack for an indefinite period. So sometimes the Perma-ZI's friends will be savaged as a means to punish him. This was actually the casus belli that started the current war, someone decided to aid someone on the ZI list, even though he did not knew he was on the list. "We already know you are not happy. Find another game if it makes you so unhappy. There are lots out there." au contraire, this war is the most fun i've had in the game since GW II |
