Okay. Thanks for the advice, mohamed and andy276. I customized another laptop online and they had the option of 9600 which I'm assuming is alot better than
the 8200.

Andy270, do you think it might be able to handle it on max settings too? Or just High?

@Aquaman: Yes, that should run it on at least medium settings.
@MOO555: High settings was just my opinion. It's possible that it will run it on max settings if you don't use a big resolution. But it's also possible it won't even run on high. Best to just wait and see. @Cougman21: I don't see any reason not to have Vista. Although it's quite expensive when you don't buy it with a new computer. @WIC1138: I think that CPU is quite old, getting a Core 2 Duo or Quad would be a good first step IMO. @Kaiser Alex: Probably, but I also suggesting buying another 1 GB of RAM. |

If i have a Sony Vaio VGN-AR laptop is it possible for me to upgrade my graphics card? I had heard that on some laptops you can't do that. Also, if i have
a core 2 duo 2.4ghz processor now, can i upgrade it to a quad core by just simply buying a quad core and having someone install it? sorry for the questions,
i'm trying to learn. Thanks in advance

I'm getting a laptop for college and I'm looking at a Dell XPS M1530.
Intel® Core™ 2 Duo T5900 (2.2GHz/800Mhz FSB/2MB cache) 4GB Shared Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 667MHz (2 Dimms) 256MB NVIDIA® GeForce® 8600M GT Would I be able to run Empire at medium settings? I haven't ordered the laptop yet, so is there anything that would be worth upgrading to be ready for Empire: TW? And Dell says they have a sale on XPS laptops right now, so would it be a good time to order a laptop now, or should I wait for after-Christmas or back-to-school sales? |

Hi Guys, this is my 1st post here. i have been a fan of totalwar ever since Shogun and have only just found this site (which is great BTW). I want to be able
to play ETW on high + but im not sure how my current comp will perform. i know i will need to improve my GPU and any suggestions would be great. Thankyou for
reading :-).
P.S, i not sure, but i dont think i have any PCI e 2.0 slots, some1 said i can stiil get a PCI e 2.0 card, but im really confused on the issue. My P.C Genuine Windows Vista™ SP1 Home Premium (64 BIT) Intel® Core 2 Duo Processor E8400 (3.00GHz, 1333MHz, 6MB cache) 8192MB 1066 MHz Dual Channel DDR3 SDRAM [4x2048] 256MB ATI® Radeon® HD 3650 Graphics card 320GB (7200rpm) Serial ATA/100 Hard Drive with 16MB DataBurst™ cache 16X DVDRW (Read/Write DVD, CD)

@Cougman: I have no idea, try asking in the technology forum.
@Taraadur: IMO that would run it on medium settings. But if Empire is the most important to you, you could wait until it's released so you can be sure. @astrikeruk: Welcome to the forums! You're right, the GPU is the weakest link in your system. What to get depends on your budget. The best price/performance card right now is the Radeon 4850, which will run it on high IMO. But of course there are better cards which are more expensive. From what I've read, all PCIe 2.0 cards work on older PCIe motherboards just as well, so don't worry about that. |

Kaiser if you're going to get a 9 series card at least go for the 9600 or 9800. Don't bother with the 9500. I'm going to upgrade to an 8800gs soon
for only £70. 8800gs > 9500
