@Clayman: I have Q8200, GTX 260 and 4 GB DDR2 RAM (bought the whole computer for about 1000€ BTW, including mouse, keyboard and OEM Vista) and I think I'll
be able to run it on highest or at least high settings at 1280x1024.

Everybody should keep in mind that recommended and "all eye candy on" are completely different things. Good way to measure computer potential is
futuremarks 3dmark vantage or 3dmark06. My last computer, wich was just above minimum reqs on processor and memory while gpu was 8600gt with 512Mb of memory,
got 3400 points on 3dmark06. With that I could play medieval 2 with medium setting and normal unit size.

I am gonna buy an Acer Aspire 6935G- 944G32BN (Dual Core 2.53 Ghz, 4 Gb Ram, Geforce 9600m gt 512Mb) this month.
What do you think will I be able to run it? I'm happy for any replies! |

Ok thx andy 276! Hope that if I set the shadows and the shaders down a level, that I can put details and vegetations to max.... should work I guess but lets
see, as long as I dont have to play it on low it should be fine with me...
P.S.: geforce 9600m gt got ~4500 points at 3DMark06 (8600m gt - Medieval 2 on high with 1280 x 800 --> got only 3500 points) so it shouldnt be that bad... thx anyway :D |

Probably upper medium, Swordfish5, with only a 512Mb graphics card.

How about mine? High?
2.33 GHz Quad core, 1333 MHz 4 MB L2 Cache 6 GB RAM I've got an onboard graphics card, but my PC tells me it is running at about 1.75 GB Vista 64-bit. Thanks. |

Integrated graphics cards will probably only run it on low, if at all. I strongly advise you get an actual card. AFAIK the reason it shows up as 1.75 GB is
because Vista shares a lot of system memory with the graphics card, but it doesn't really have any effect in games. The amount of RAM on a graphics card
isn't the main factor in performance anyway.

I guess everyone who can run MD2 should be fine:
Even the worse PCs will be able to run it on very low on a resolution of 800 x 600 --> depends on what youre used to :P I guess that my GPU (geforce 9600m gt) will be able to run it on med. to high --> hope that the CPU (2.53 Ghz) is gonna support the GPU to achieve these graphical preferences... I real do hope, hence I'm no really used to running games on med to high^^ |

I was looking at graphics cards, but am unsure what the stream processor is and what effect having more will have. I looked at Nvidia 9500 series and they had
32 stream processors but the Nvidia 280 series had 240. What difference (and why) would this make.

Well of course the 280 is the best graphiccard on the market, at the moment... 240 stream processors are a LOT --> the thing is, that you will even be able
to run todays high end games with an 8800 gtx which has "only" got 128 stream processors. So because you cant play games on higher than high, I would
suggest that you buy a geforce 8800 gtx or if you dont want to spend that much money, a geforce 9600 gt with 64 stream processors, which will still be able to
give u a satisfying experience...
The difference is litterally the prize 280 gtx costs about 400 euros (~450 dollars). --> so a gtx 280 would first really matter in 2 years or so, when games really require a decent graficcard. For the time being, the 8800 gtx is the right choice. And I really have to say, that if I were you, I would go for the 8800 gtx which is still a very good dx 10 compatible graficcard! Greetings |

I think at medium, maybe with shadows off, on a resolution of about 1024x800.
But I'm not sure, right now noone could tell by 100%!! |
