I want to play as America with the whole world added in. I want to establish trade routes and all that. is this possible?

yes, but you have to beat chapters 1-3 of road to independence

the 4th chapter is a short grand campaign as the US

You have to save your current RTI campaign then exit and go back to teh main menu, then click on the RTI from the main menu and select chapter 4.

Unfortunately, even though the box art features some crazy screaming American soldier with US flags behind him you can't play as the US in the grand campaign (the one game mode that actually matters)

you didn't beat RTI 3 then... did you acheive the vic conditions and then HOLD them until the end of Winter 1810?

No i've achieved victory conditions but on year 1800, it said campaign won, i'm on my 52nd turn

you have to hold them until 1810

then you unlock the next one

really?

my game told me that I had achieved the vic conditions, but that in order to unlock the final chapter I'd have to hold the territory until 1810

I bought my copy in the US (at walmart for that matter LOL), and mine has a redcoat on it as well

To my knowledge there are four "box versions" of the game. They're all identical except for the flags (and possible the screaming guy's uniform color) -- America, Britain, Prussia, and Poland.

On a somewhat related note, I have two questions for people who have used the TWCenter mod to unlock all factions in the Grand Campaign:

1) If you play as the 13 Colonies and end your protectorateship with Great Britain, do you turn into the United States?
2) If you play as the 13 Colonies, do you have access to America's unit roster (the one from the custom battles)?
