Question #22 - Why are all my princesses not charming?

Answer #22 - Because there is no trigger for NaturalPrincessSkill or PassionateWoman - which are traits that makes a princess have some redeeming characteristics without having to train her completely.

My solution, add these triggers to your export_descr_character_traits.txt file:

NaturalPrincess only goes up to level 3, and I would like to see more princesses getting married and fewer princesses wandering the map. So, I have added PassionateWoman and PrettyWoman to the initial traits.

The last three triggers give the player the option to leave the princess in the city and pick up some traits.

Note that some of these triggers may be affected by the forum, which sees them as HTML code

Edit - This fix unpack your files and then install a modswitcher. Directions for the modswitcher are located in this thread. Directions for unpacking your files are found in the v1.1 readme file and the M2TW Modding forums.

Remember - always make back up copies before modding anything! If you don't feel comfortable modding, then it might be best to just wait for the patch and see if CA fixes this issue themselves.

Clarification - these files were released to modders a few days before v1.1 patch came out. There are some files in this batch that are not in a readable format when you unpack the v1.1 data files.

These would also be useful if someone forgot to make backup copies.

Question # 32 - How do I enable multiplayer hotseat campaign mode?

Answer #32 -

1. First, copy your medieval2.preference.cfg file to your desktop.
2. Rename the copy of the medieval2.preference.cfg file to multiplayer.cfg.
3. Now, make sure that the multiplayer.cfg file is not read only (right click on the file, and check the properties).
4. Open this new multiplayer.cfg file with Notepad or Wordpad, then add this to what is already in the multiplayer.cfg file:

5. Now save the multiplayer.cfg file and put it back on read only.
6. Move the multiplayer.cfg file into your C:\Program Files\SEGA\Medieval II Total War folder.
7. Now open up Notepad again. In an otherwise blank document, type this:

medieval2.exe @multiplayer.cfg

8. Save the Notepad document as Launch_Multiplayer.bat
9. Put this new Launch_Multiplayer.bat file in your C:\Program Files\SEGA\Medieval II Total War folder.
10. Now, if you want to, right click on the new .bat file and send it to the desktop (Create Shortcut).
11. When you want to play the multiplayer version of the game, double-click the .bat file. This will launch the game in multiplayer mode.
12. Once you are in the game, select Singleplayer. Then Grand Campaign.
13. Now, pick which factions you want to play. Just click on as many as you want. I am playing as all 17 playable factions now.
14. When you start the campaign, you will play each faction you have chosen in order. You can save and quit at any point and resume your game as you choose.

Question #34 - Why don't my generals start with any piety?

Answer #34 - The ReligionStarter trait does not work properly. You will need to mod your export_descr_character_traits.txt file to fix this.

The trait says "general" instead of "family", so it never fires. It should look like this:

Several other traits are also bugged in this way. LoyaltyStarter, Cultured, and HasAdultress do not work for the same or similar reasons.

Question #36: How do I recruit generals?

Answer #36: It is very easy to mod the game so that you can recruit generals. Just add this to your export_descr_buildings.txt file:

Question #38 - How do I get the apothecary ancillary?

Answer #38 - The best solution is to download yakaspat's mod, which includes this fix. But if you don't want to do that, you can make this change. Add this trigger to your export_descr_ancillaries.txt file.
