I didn't think I'll like it, but this showed something promising (though Borat still rocks, IMO): here.

So, what do you think of the movie? The same guy who was Borat. And by the way, is it out yet?

Out on 10th July. Also if you didnt like Borat I fail to see how you will like this one as its offending lots of people, yet again. Looks good though ! |

Well, I'm a tad older than most on these forums, and found Borat horrendously funny up to a point...then it just got continuously tacky.
Personally, I think the 'camp' cliches have been overdone, but what the hey...his wife is a good aussie girl, so good luck to him. |

the problem is that many homosexuals already make fun of themselves while rappers and eastern europeans arent known for that.
So I do think that Borat and Ali G are characters that would be far more succesfull than Bruno. I will still watch that movie sometimes, but it did get some bad reviews, mainly about what I just mentioned. It might be breaking more taboo's in America than in the Netherlands though, if he did the same stuff here people wouldnt be surprised. |

Bruno just reinforces the stereotypical image that people already have about homosexuals. I know that it's comedy and shouldn't be taken seriously but
there are plenty of people who will look at it and say "I always knew that gays behave like that" or something along those lines. Just my 2c

Which I think is why Borat was partly successful. It broke new ground, whilst being so outrageous and almost downright offensive at times. For me the mix was
just about right.
I doubt Bruno can replicate this, it will probably be a lot more predictable not just coming after Borat, but also with the "topic" thats covered. As people have already mentioned, jokes about homosexuals are quite common to most people. |

Borat is mostly about the eastern european stereotype and not specifically kazachstan.
Whenever I heard Nico Bellic speak in GTAIV he reminded me of Borat. I live here in the Netherlands, theres plenty of %+% pride or rights parades and such around with almost naked homosexuals driving around on boats in Amsterdam. Bruno wont have much of an impact here. I wouldnt mind it if such parades would be forbidden, its quite rediculous. I have nothing against homosexuals but its not like there is a heterosexual parade in the same fasion. Such parades simply work against acceptance of homosexuality, and I am sure many homosexuals arent happy about these parades either. |

I don't really love or hate pride parades but they give somewhat stereotypical image about homosexuals. The one in my country was fun though, you wouldn't have even known it was a pride parade if you didn't know it beforehand. |

I wouldnt say that I hate it, just saying that it seems like a bad way to get more acceptance.
