I purchased Total War: Eras and installed Shogun gold edition. When I go to play it after the Creative
Assembly Logo screen (after loading) everything goes black except an error on my monitor that says "Out of Range". I can hear the music from the game
in the background so the game doesn't totally crash. The only way out of it is either reboot or hitting the Window Key to go back to my desktop.
I've done a lot of research in these forums and in goggle to try and discover what the problem is. I hear
that others having similar problems are lowering their monitor refresh rate to resolve the issue. I'm using resolution 1024x768 and under
display>Settings>Advanced>Monitor it is set at the lowest 60 Hertz already.
Now I found this post in this forum by someone that was having what sounds like the same problem:
He says he installed Codec Pack K-Lite (3.01) to resolve the issue. I went ahead and done so myself and I was actually able to get to the menu of Shogun. I started to play and went thru the first tutorial. As soon as I completed it though and it started to load something I got a black screen again with the "out of range" message.
By the way, the only way for me to reach the Shogun menu now is if I re-install this Codec Pack every time before trying to play. If I quit out and then try to bring the game up without re-installing the codec, I will still get the black screen saying out of range. So I tried to play without doing the tutorial and as soon as I clicked on an icon about seeing the throne room it went black again with the "out of range" message.
Needless to say it is unplayable and I can't find a solution anywhere on this web site let alone the rest of the Internet. Is there anyone that understand this issue well enough to explain what I need to do to fix it?
