Secondly it would be nice to hear your stories and experiences about these characters. I played my first campaign with Julii and Julius Caesar was born to my faction. I was thrilled and of course made this 16 year old boy my faction leader (old died quite soon after Julius was born)
. I got an elite army for him and continued my fight against Gauls. One of the
funniest thing was that when he made speeches he was just... uh, well... he liked to mention about his mother and was forgetting what he was saying
. Other than that everything was going well and it seemed that I could make a
great general from this young boy. But it was just the third or fourth fight against a Gaul army when Caesar had his worst day ever. I bombarded the attacking
Gauls with my onager using flame arrows. In the midst of hectic battle I charged with Caesar to punish the side of Gauls shattered front line. Everything
looked good: Gauls army was in complete disorder and for my front line it was an easy pick. Arrows were flying and some units retreating and my Caesar was
gaining fame and a reputation of being heroic in a battle when suddenly... I saw a movie scene where Caesar was burning and horses yelling. Unfortunately one
missed shot from my onager killed Caesar instantly. Eagerness to fame and fortune had killed this young boy just in the age of 17... or pissed off soldiers who
didn't care of a leader who makes so uninspiring and laughable speeches
Anyways that has been my only experience with historical characters in Rome. Didn't meet Vercingetorix thought in the late events of my imperial campaign ( I bet he is also in the game). So, I'm hoping someone could light a little bit this part of the game so I could keep an eye for any historical characters in the game.
BTW it's good to see that this forum is going well and there is still eager Rome players around
