Step 1

Search the solutions archive for threads already pertaining to your issue. These forums are labelled {Solved} and are located directly under the support boards.

Lastly, check the support FAQ here which covers most common issues.

Step 2

Please post your issue in the correct board.
If your question relates to game modifications, cinematic editors or hotseat features post in the modding boards and not technical support.

If your question is technical, post in the proper subforum. We have seperate boards for MTW2, RTW and the rest.
Do not create multiple threads, do not post the same threads in multiple forums.

Step 3

If your problem is technical, make sure to include a DirectXDiagnostics report (copy the ENTIRE text file contents).
Describe your problem as clearly as possible. If it is visual, provide a screenshot if you can. Encase the dxdiag in spoiler tags to conserve space.

Don't post your DXDiag in another persons thread with asking first, as it causes complications.

Also go through the information below before posting.


Sega support have the best support for specific issues relating to CD-Keys and manufacturing defects are the best to deal with these specific issues. You can contact them through their online system.

Any form of piracy including torrenting illegal software, modifying game executables and sharing game files is prohibited on these boards and will result in a permanent ban


  • Please make sure all your system drivers are up to date (Chipset, Video & Sound), the majority of issues are caused by lack of driver updates.

  • It's highly recommend you get the latest Service Pack for your operating system, and go to Windows Update and obtain all critical updates.
    Remember you should always get the latest drivers from the hardware manufacturers website and not assume Windows installs the correct or most up to date drivers for graphics cards, sound cards and so on.

  • As always make sure you have installed the latest update for your game, which can be found in the download/support sections of the Total War website.
