I'm playing CG as England and I'm in the process of finishing off HRE. My goal was to hit every city in one turn. 6 armies, each led by a family
member, converged on 4 cities. For the enemy capital and it's second largest city, I designated two armies to each.(NOTE: early in the game after
destroying France, I had immediately sent two spies to each HRE city...I walked through the gates) The two minor battles went excellent. Then disaster
struck...My two leaders that served as reinforcements in the separate battles were killed. I captured the cities fairly easily but, not having control over the
reinforcements (I commanded a "full"(20) army), the leader went directly towards the city center and was surrounded in minutes. Glorious death, my
bum...idiotic!!!!! Terrible lose for my nation as these were veteran leaders. Ohh, BTW it's only a game. """Sniffles"""
If I were to do this again, how could I have saved these leaders?
1. Don't send them into battle. Have the reinforcements led by a captain.
2. Don't use the spies to open the gates? Therefore we have to fight our way in but I can get to the center before my reinforcements.
3. Rush my own cavalry directly towards the town center (usually doesn't work because the enemy forces are ALWAYS facing me and not my reinforcements).
4. Always have direct control over your reinforcements, which limits you to having only 20 units at any one time in the battle.
Thoughts????
