Most roads are simply terrible, and bulk cargoes (such as coal) must go by ship anyway: it is the only way of moving goods cheaply and relatively quickly.Does that mean trade uses rivers ? Or is it merely ocean/seas as in previous TW games ? |

Im sorry but those look ugly to me. It matters little though, its hardly something that would stop me buying the game.

Still can't understand why those units and diplomatic stills can look so beautifull and those buildings so horrible ! And yeah, I'm sorry aswell, but, have to give my opinion about them, can't let it go

What's ugly about it? It's exactly what you would expect a coastal trading port to look like, there's a Dock, Warehouse, Crane, Packing crates,
even an awning for smokers to stand under in the rain
The only negative thing I can see is that if a party of Inca's happen to pass by in the middle of the night they may try to dismantle the crane thinking it's made of Gold

Believe me, making them look more realistic and authentic (like the unit sigs and diplomatic stills) won't be a much larger burden on your computer. Like to see more life on the campaign map
@ Shire, Don't you feel that there is a huge difference in quality between how the units and diplomates (those governor still) are portrayed and the buildings ? Units and diplomats look gorgeous, the buildings look like cartoony, flat pictures. It just doesn't give the same old feeling, same thing about how they are portrayed on the campaign map, all crooked and not alligned properly with the landscape. Nope, not beautifull at all !

Yeah but i think it looks good as it is :) It could maybe be a small port anyway, so they will probably be different in size and appearance im pretty sure

Joker II wrote:It's still too early to say yet Joker, in the campaign pictures I've seen certain buildings do stand out from everything else admittedly but it's like you say, they look like they have just been plonked on the map with no attempt made to merge them into the background but again I must emphasize that the game isn't finished yet and those shots are nothing but work in progress. When Mark says images are coming from the Gold version of the game then and only then will I start to make my proper opinions known. Oh and I probably don't need to point this out but for anyone who dosn't realise, the picture that Mark has linked to is nothing but a clean graphic image of a Trading Port and does not have any of the final map effects added to it which will help integrate it into the background yet. |

Shire mate, I hope you're right, but, let's be honest here, it's a merely two months till release, I think you aswell as I have been playing games
long enough and following progression of games long enough that changes made to a game in the last two months will be as good as non-existant. It's
beta-testing time now, parameters and stuff will be changed/altered. Not graphics or graphic representation of building/units/etc... !
But, I do hope you're right you know

ElusiveHonor wrote:I'm not talking about photorealism, I'm talking about giving the impression they are actually old buildings from the 18 century, this can be accomplished for the sigs aswell as on the campaign map. They look plastic like now, not up to par with the unit depiction or the screen with the governors, they look much more the part ! and 2) the buildings are going to be small on the campaign map, so a lot of detail isn't necessary.I disagree, lot's of detail should be added towards everything on the campaign map, which obviously is allready done, if you look at how CA now has implemented the governemental overview with it's different governors, etc... When looking at that port on the campaign map, its easily distinguishable as a port and if its a low/high level port.Sorry, but, that doesn't mean it can't be created on a level like the unit or governors are. |

I think the trading port looks fine, I don't know what you lot are on about? Frankly, that's the least of my worries about this game. And there are
only so many ways to depict a trading port....
