Hi guys,
Our latest faction feature is now online, featuring the United Provinces. The United Provinces are one of the playable factions in Empire: Total War! Thanks, Mark O'Connell (aka SenseiTW) |

The Dutch are going to corner the market in hops, barley and wheat to control the beer market :) as no other market matters.

Easy? Perhaps.. But don't forget they will be fighting all of spain, france & present day germany. That sounds like a pretty big money drainer

Yeah! Finaly we Dutchmen are recognized in historic games. I guess we won't be starting with a lot of provinces. Maybe Amstedam and Antwerp only. So it
isn't going to be easy, but I'll definitly play this faction first.

The Dutch might have some stuff in the Caribbean and in the East Indies trade theatre too, which would be nice little earners...

exactly. it will be keeping france in check only if you play a good diplomatic game, have the brits as allies and swing between fighting france and germany
depending on strength on the continent. expand overseas and throttle trade. sorted. once one of the big two is down, you have the choice of domination of
europe, or try taking on the british and securing a island fortress and a nice set of overseas provinces.
i would assume thats how it could play out. still money = options and progress in tech, which = power. |

Though it seems that CA is pretty positive about the Dutch I'm still afraid they will be overrun in Europe, especially when AI played and if the Dutch are
at war with France. It doesn't matter how much money you have, you need time and manpower as well to recruit an army, something France can easily cope with
if loosing a lot of troops. As a matter of fact it should even be so if this game is to become realistic as the Dutch could have never been able to face France
on land (not mentioning the sea of course).

Improved diplomacy should factor to this. Diplomacy and alliances was essential in this era. According to CA the improvements are up to it.
