Posts: 201 Feb 26 09 12:57 PM	Tags : None hey, just wondering if anyone can explain to me why i am getting such high squalor penalties in these two cities, i cant see why myself yet its meaning i cant move my armies out to continue invading. thanks

Posts: 552 Feb 26 09 1:01 PM	Did you have a population boom? Squalor goes up quicker if the pop growth is to big Possible that your family members have traits and/or ancillary's that add to squalor Other than that its just the size of the cities.....both have a pretty big population

Posts: 552 Feb 26 09 1:22 PM	Yeh, but thats really only a tempory fix......long term you need to build up those happiness buildings to counteract the unhappiness squlor brings You could let the city riot for a turn or 2 rather than lettin gthem out right rebel...that'll kill of a fair few of the rabble

Posts: 17 Feb 26 09 3:57 PM	No, a forced rebellion will work, just make sure you exterminate (esp. if the city is already maxed out in population), and maybe change governors/build temples that give more happiness bonuses.

Posts: 4206 Feb 26 09 6:25 PM Administrator	It doesn't solve the problem long term though. Squalor is not really that devastating. It will increase relative to the population. As long as your cities aren't rebelling (and they aren't) then it's better not to make them rebel. Otherwise you'll loose the tax income for a long time.

Posts: 4106 Feb 26 09 11:57 PM Administrator	I suggest you lower taxes for Byzantium. Yeah I know squalor only increases but believe me its all proportional and in my experience low taxes always seems to clean up the situation as long you manage the situation right. You'll definitely want to max out on temples. On Sardis, ur population growth is really low so your squalor is about to level out. No problems here, ur city is just about to reach it's maximum population. Upgrading your temple once should do the trick for a while, then you can focus on the military. When you feel the need to grow to a huge city start building some farms.
