Posts: 2 04/13/09 23:14:50	Hi, I just bought the Gold Edition of Medieval II Total War on DVD and have installed it. What is the procedure for patching this to the current version for both the core game and Kingdoms, and where are these patches located? I downloaded a V1.2 patch, but I think this is for the non-Gold version. Sorry, but this information is just too confusing and hard to find

Posts: 13649 04/16/09 01:43:29 Administrator	Install MTW2 then Kingdoms. Kingdoms checks the current version and should update MTW2 to 1.2 then 1.3, then Kingdoms campaigns will install (Kingdoms is 1.4). There's a separate 1.5 patch for Kingdoms, and that patch will have a gold specific version. So apart from 1.5 you need do nothing.

Posts: 2 04/16/09 09:44:20	Darktw, Thanks for the reply. It looks like my TW version is 1.02, not 1.03, and the Kingdoms version is 1.04 as you said. So, I'll grab the V1.5 Kingdoms patch then, and apply.

You stated that the Kingdoms install should update the main game to 1.3 but mine still reads as 1.2 after the full Kingdoms install and after patching to 1.5. Is the game actually patched to 1.3 correctly or do I have to manually install the 1.3 patch? Thanks for any help you can give.

Posts: 3 06/18/09 08:15:39	Actually I'm beginning to suspect that this is a Vista issue. As I understand it Kingdoms won't play without some of the elements included in 1.3 so I must have the updated play files. I'm starting to think that during the Kingdoms install when the batch installer updates M2:TW to 1.2 that the medieval.exe file is somehow made read-only and therefore will not be updated during update 3. After I finish with my current hardware tests I'll give this a test and try to write out a work around.

Posts: 13649 06/29/09 08:29:37 Administrator	Really? Well I'm guessing Sega have acknowledged the .exe from the gold edition data is the 1.2 exe. The only differences in the 1.3 exe are multiplayer compatibility related as far as I know. So it won't effect Kingdoms at all.
