Posts: 5 04/25/09 16:31:55	Tags : ship, blockade, build I started a campaign as Prussia. Straight away I upset Denmark so my only little port is blockaded. Unfortunately I can't build any ships to break the blockade! When I queue up a ship to be built it just runs down to "0" turns left-to-build, but doesn't actually create the ship. Help! How am I supposed to break the blockade if I can't build a ship in the first place? I couldn't find the answer to this anywhere... am I doing something stupid??

Posts: 5 04/25/09 16:38:30	No - I did that already. The Danish ship moved out of port. Still myship won't actually build. It gets stuck with the number "0" in the hourglass...

Posts: 186 04/25/09 17:48:26	I don't think you can build in a blockaded port eeither. Historically, it was very difficult to build ships in a port under close blockade, various supplies needed for shipbuilting (timber, rope, tar, etc) normally came in by sea. Timber in particular was difficult to haul overland in the 18th century. The solution to your problem would seem to be to attack Denmark, and either get them to agree to peace, become a protectorate, or just take the Denmark region and use the port there. The AI rarely blockades multiple ports at the same time.

Posts: 794 04/26/09 01:52:36 CA Staff	Have you repaired the port, it looks like it has taken damage from when the Danish fleet was in it, and you cannot recruit any ships whilst it is damaged.

If the UP actually were in his port (not only blockading it) all his build-ques will dissapear...(at least that happens to me when an enemy enters my port). And if they had been in there, he would not be able to set up another build before repairing the port. Am i right? Thats why i ALWAYS keep 1 ship in port until all build-ques are finnished. Its fairly anoying if ure building 4 third-class ships and upgrading port to naval hospital, then an enemy ship enters the port and everything ure building is gone... thats 12000 out the window (not to mention the time spent).

I often find myself in a situation playing mediocre naval powers (ie, not British, Dutch or Spanish) where there's really no choice but to suck up to a naval antagonist and sue for peace. Put them on the hit-list "for later".

Posts: 38 05/06/09 11:54:32	Try taking your land unit out of the port for a turn or two. In my experience the blockading fleet will sometimes raid the port again and then leave after getting kicked out or just leave.
