My gates are always broken ! |

Hi, On Barbarian invasion, i am the eastern roman empire. My gate of one of my cities, is constantly broken, despite me fixing the rest of the wall, which was sapped. It is very annoying as i have to put all my troops behind the gate. The walls are fixed but not the gate..... Any help would be much appreciated!

Could be spies opening the gates before the siege.

No I think it is a bug on some campaigns. This never occurs on my "uncivilized" campaigns, but my gates are always broken (not open, they are wacked
open like after the ram hits it) with "civilized" campaigns.

Even though I always have at least 3 spies in a "perimeter" city to prevent spies getting in? I am serious, I have seen how spies work and for me
those are not spies!

Hi guys I don't think it is because of spies. The gates are broken like they are when they have been rammed and are bent. Any ideas how to fix it? Thanks

That's how spies do it in RTW. They somehow break the gate open the same way rams do.
And 3 spies in a perimeter is not enough. You need 8 for it to work (if it works at all). I find it's better to keep the spy in the settlement, cause that way they are counter-spying, increasing the chance the spy is caught when trying to enter and caught every turn after it entered. |

You know, i have spies like 4-10 around alot of my settlements, i always catch about 2-3 spies every turn! :)

Yeah. They are in the perimeter settlements. Not in the settlement which is getting owned by spies....

Imagine I control whole Italy. To the north are the gauls. my most northern setlements are Saguntum and Arminium (I think). Those are the frontal line and
those are meant as perimeter settlements. You know, the settlements who make the perimeter around my empire.

Maybe just play on a lower campaign difficulty setting with more spies. |

then there was no need to call them perimeter settlements, just the settlement in question.
and three spies in your city doesn't make it impossible. the spy must either be very good or incredibly lucky, or your three spies are indeed terrible! |
