Posts: 1670 06/22/09 08:03:37 CA Staff and Admin	Tags : None Hi guys, The first downloadable content for the critically acclaimed Empire: Total War will be available today via Steam. Featuring 14 new unit types for different playable factions, this downloadable content will add an extra layer to the already in-depth offering that is Empire: Total War. You can check out the Steam product page here. Please note that these are separate to the 14 free units contained in Update 1.3. That's crazy awesome!!. Maybe some of the units are the ones we've been seeing in the daily updates, and some are the unlocked units (some that were in game, but not recruitable - that was mentioned somewhere in daily updates before).

I purchased the Special Forces Edition - and now you come up with extra units for an extra fee - I hope that 1.3 fixes the game so it starts to be better then M2TW or RTW. Modders create new units with new skins by themselves for free all the time, and now we have the priviledge of buying some more units created by a whole team of people who are paid to do that. Why don't you just go the whole distance like EA and release a game with one faction at the start and introduce "new" factions with expansions for £15 every 3-6 months? It's disgraceful enough that CA think that a handful of free units can buy back the customer loyalty that has in my opinion, been utterly smashed with this botched product. No doubt this will deleted in a few minutes or less. God forbid that anybody would rain on the big CA parade. I suppose I might as well try and get something out of this game after 1.3 since I, and many many more like me have seemingly been directly paying for the development of this game since its beta launch in March.

Good to hear that CA are releasing some more units to make the game a bit more diverse, i have mixed emotions over needing to pay for them but i wont complain. It isn't as if they are very expensive anyway.
